How to Get the Layered Look

February 15, 2012

There are lots of ways to layer necklaces! This is one styling trend that’s near impossible to mess up — unless maybe you put on every single necklace you own all at once — but hey, who are we to judge? When it comes to jewels, the more the merrier.

Here are a few simple and chic ways to find your ‘layered look’…

—Choose necklaces with different lengths so all styles get their fair share of attention

—Use 2-5 necklaces for best results

—Mix and match textures, metals and styles for dimension

When layering necklaces, you want to keep hanging charms and pendants to a minimum. However, as C + I fan and DIY blogger Jenni from I Spy DIY shows us above, two small pendants in matching metals on a simple T-shirt neckline looks amaze. Notice how our Horseshoe Pendant hangs perfectly below the Double Teardrop Necklace! Most 16″ pendants have multiple loops at the closure so it is super-easy to adjust them to get this tiered effect.

Here at C+I we are all about getting Chloe and Isabel-worthy looks. Polished Isabels will want to stick to one theme, while trendy Chloes might not be afraid to mix and match a bit more. An Isabel might try only two or three necklaces in total, while Chloe may pile on five or more!

Fun styling tip to get started: try necklaces in the same color family but that are made out of different materials OR that are made from the same materials but worn in different colors.
